How do you start a scholarship fund?

Can you answer Miss. Tee98's question about scholarships?:

My father pass almost 2 - years ago and I want to start a scholarship fund in honor of his name and for his love of working with computers, but do not know where to begin.

What would be some of first steps I need to take?

Think about your criteria:
do you want this at a specific school?
for freshmen only?
for proven undergrads (3rd/4th year)?

Most cities have a community foundation where they will keep the funds for you, advertise the scholarship, process applications and help you set up a review process.

If you're in a small (one high school) town like me & don't have a community foundation, check with the high school counselor. That's usually the person who deals with local scholarships.
