What athletes were offered scholarships/played a different sport than do now at a high level?

Can you answer Rob W's question about scholarships?:

Carl Crawford (MLB outfielder) was offered scholarships to play PG at UCLA and QB at Nebraska.

Joe Mauer (MLB Catcher) was offered a scholarship to play QB at Florida State

Tom Brady, Mike Vick, Matt Cassell were all drafted into the MLB

You know anyone else?

Sam Walton Scholarship
