Scholarships For College In Music
Education is the key for a successful career, which is why it is the primary responsibility of all parents to send their children to school. Although education is a necessity, not all parents are able to fund their children's schooling. Most usually stop after they graduate from high school.
This is true in most countries that do not provide a free college education for their citizens. The amount of people who can not afford to send their kids to college is increasing every year. Government and private organizations are in full swing trying to help kids with limited financial resources by giving out various scholarships.
Students have different talents. Some students are good in sports, others in computers, and others in the arts like dancing and music. More and more scholarships are now available that focus on a particular field of interest. If you really love music and are good at it, there are scholarships for college.
Many students are interested in music but are convinced by their parents to choose another career path. Many students ignore their parents desires and push on against incredible odds to pursue a career in a less stable industry like music.
Here is a list of some of the music scholarships available for students:
1. A vocal scholarship is available from Bel Canto. The Bel Canto foundation awards over $15,000 to people between the ages of 20 and 37 who plan on pursuing a career in opera in the United States.
2. The John Lennon BMI scholarship. This scholarship is by invitation only. This scholarship is awarded to songwriters.
3. Scholarship award by String Magazine; this is open for students who are currently in an undergraduate program; the award is usually based on academic merit, community service and financial need.
4. The FAME scholarship award. FAME is for college seniors only who have demonstrated professional achievement.
You can find more musical scholarships on the Internet. Basically you need to Google music scholarships then go to the websites and see what the requirements are to qualify.
Another thing that you can do is that every big university has a scholarships list. Contact the registrar for scholarship information.
The good thing about the field of music is that there are less students competing for scholarships. Most are convinced by their parents to stay away from music. If you are struggling to earn a college degree in music, there is a good chance that you will get a scholarship so go for it.
Like any other student dreaming of a life in college, you should not be discouraged by the difficulty that you are now facing. People have problems, and that can not be avoided.
Financial constraints are not enough to stop you from getting that college education. Choose the best option available for you. This is your way to a dazzling career in the near future.
You are a gifted individual. Share your talent with other people, and show them your love for music. And who knows, you might just be the one that the music industry is waiting for all these years.
