Finding scholarships

One reason that scholarships are so popular is that they do not have to be paid back. This is unlike loans that incur interest that also has to be paid in full upon graduation.

The first thing that you will need to do is fill out your FAFSA. Any student who wants to receive financial aid has to have this form filled out and processed. Make sure that you have it done by March of each year in order to qualify for the aid that you deserve.

The application takes a minimal amount of time to fill out and will likely ask about your family and financial situation. It will open the door up for several different scholarships for you and there are also grants that go along with this form. If you are a single mom then you will probably qualify for a Pell grant which never has to be repaid and will help you with all of the expenses that go along with being a student. You will have to attend class and keep your grades up in order to get this grant, but it is very helpful in paying your expenses.

Most schools also have scholarships posted on their bulletin boards in their financial aid offices. You will most likely qualify to apply for many of them.

Some more rural towns offer aid to their residence that have completed at least one semester of college successfully and demonstrate the need for help.

It is not hard to find scholarships for single moms. All you have to do is put some effort into your search and have a will to succeed.
