Don't Make The #1 Scholarship Searching Mistake!
What college bound high school student does not want to win scholarships? I assure you, it can be done! You need to think "outside the box" and take a different path than that of your peers when searching for scholarships. Your main sources of competition are your fellow students. When it comes to finding scholarships, why would you do just what they do and find the same scholarships to apply for?
It is simple and easy to search for college scholarships on the internet. Search for "college scholarships" by entering in a few keywords into your browser and instantly you have a bunch of websites at your fingertips. That's it, right? WRONG! Learn exactly why this is such a popular scholarship searching mistake and why…
Ever since the internet explosion several years ago, students have used online sources to find scholarships. It seems like this is a great simple way to search for and apply for college scholarships, but this is only a way to find a very small percentage of the scholarships that are out there. Students think that by entering "scholarships" into their search engines and going to those sites that appear that they are finding all the scholarships that are relevant to them. Only using the internet to find scholarships is a huge mistake that most high school or college students make!
When students start their scholarship searching, they need to realize that there are many resources out there besides the internet. The sources with the most up-to-date information are the big scholarship listing books. These books list scholarship opportunities by the student's intended college major, hobbies, race, interests, club affiliation, and so much more. Surprisingly, students will find scholarships listed in these books that are NOT found online! Since these books are updated and come out with new versions yearly, their information is more current than the majority of scholarship searching websites found online!
In addition, there are lists of local scholarships found in high school guidance counselors offices (and you don't have to be a student at that school to get their lists!), state sponsored scholarship opportunities, and many more ways to find scholarships.
How do I know this? I went through the process of finding and applying for college scholarships with my own son. We used the scholarship listing books and he won over $20,000 in college scholarships! We found scholarships that no scholarship searching website ever sent to his email address, even though he signed up for every single one of these "helping" websites. We also utilized the other sources that I mentioned here, plus many more
When I started sharing with friends and family about my son's success at winning scholarships, I was told over and over again to write down my methods and publish them. As a result, I created, http://www.how2winscholarships.com. If you are serious about winning scholarships, you NEED to learn the methods found there. Don't do what everyone else is doing, think "outside the box" and win college scholarships!
