Answered By Sidney Trellis Topics for scholarship essays vary from college to college. Some colleges have pre-selected topics, while others give applicants some leeway. Regardless, you will find that most colleges and universities want the scholarship applicant to write an essay that will illustrate his or her own unique qualities and talents. Remember, the purpose is to help the scholarship board to understand why they should award a scholarship. Consider writing about the following: Your extracurricular activities Your major accomplishments A particular adversity or difficulty you overcame Be sure to allow yourself two weeks for writing the essay. You'll want to edit, put it down, come back in a day or two, and then edit some more.
