Return To Scholarships Article Archive   Search the Article Archives FBI Scholarship Draws Record Number of High School and College Students By Miami FBI Office More than 2,000 high school and college student per day have been registering for the FBI Common Knowledge Challenge. This is a cash scholarship that is won by students taking a series of multiple-choice quizzes over the internet. Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) January 18, 2006 -- High school and college students looking for easy scholarship money are registering in record numbers to compete in the FBI Common Knowledge Challenge scholarship. For the first time in its five year history, the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation (www.cksf.org) registered over 2,000 students in one day to compete for the $500 scholarship set to begin on January 28th and run through February. The Foundation, which averages approximately 500 new registrations a day, attributes the current spike to the popularity of the scholarship topics and the help of Fastweb.com, a scholarship matching service. “Students love it when they find out they can win scholarship money by participating in an online quiz about the FBI, NASCAR and the Bible instead of writing long time consuming essays,” said Daryl Hulce CKSF founder. “It’s a twenty-first century scholarship program delivered over the internet. Registration is painless and most people can finish a quiz in less than five minutes.” The program attracts a wide range of participants because the format gives every student a fair and equal chance at winning. A person does not have to be an A student to win this type of scholarship because the quiz topics are announced in advance. For scholarships such as the FBI Challenge, all the questions are from information found on the FBI website (www.fbi.gov). “We have found a way to get people to read every word of a website,” said Hulce. “It is a niche discovered after offering a scholarship based on the Miami Dolphins website.” The FBI Challenge was developed with the help of Jeff Green, the Miami FBI Community Outreach Coordinator. The program began as an effort to increase awareness of the FBI’s mission, roles and responsibilities in the South Florida community and has grown into one of the largest national high school and college scholarship programs offered by the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation. A single registration provides participants access to all Common Knowledge Scholarships for which they qualify. Each person may continue to take the quizzes from high school through graduate school or until they have reached a maximum of $5,000. Even parents may register and participate to try and win scholarship money for their children. Parents winning a CKSF scholarship may transfer the award to their child’s college bill or have the money held for a child not yet in college. Students and parents may register at the Foundation's website www.cksf.org. As with all CKSF contests, participants log on to the internet and take a series of multiple-choice quizzes. The winner is determined by a combination of correct answers and time. Results are updated regularly on the CKSF website so participants can see where they rank at all times. Participants do not have to wait to be notified if they have won as the ranking is automatically calculated and posted. Registration is free and now open at www.cksf.org for the FBI, NASCAR, and Bible Common Knowledge Scholarships. There are no essays, minimum grade point average or financial background requirements. Developed and administered at Nova Southeastern University’s Fischler School of Education, the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation offers a wide variety of unique scholarship opportunities that average students have a real chance at winning. The Foundation offers approximately 35 academic and general knowledge scholarship opportunities throughout the year. The Foundation has also developed and administers the FBI-SOS (Safe Online Surfing) challenge, an internet safety program aimed at educating middle school students about the dangers associated with the internet and online predators.
