Financial Aid Resources for Nursing Students

Healthcare industry is one of the most demanding fields and nursing degree is one of the most popular degrees enrolled by college students because most of nursing degree graduated students is easily secure a career in the high demanding healthcare industry. Like other degree's students, many nursing students always looking for some resources to get their education funded either through scholarship or education loan. This article will points out some of the financial aid resources where nursing students can get help to fund their study in nursing major.

Excellence in Academics Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship is newly launched in year 2006 by Lydias Professional Uniforms, a leading supplier of apparel for health professionals in partnering with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). This scholarship is dedicated for nurses enrolled in baccalaureate programs. Under this scholarship program, each scholarship holder will be provided $5,000 per semester. To be eligibility for applying this scholarship, your must posses at least 3.5 GPA and submit with 250 word essay describing their career aspirations and financial need. The scholarship application form and detail information can be viewed & downloaded at AACN.nche.edu/Education.

Career Mobility Scholarship Award

This scholarship is awarded by Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN) Foundation for existing nurses who are pursuing their further degree in LN to RN, RN to BSN, RN to MSN, BSN to MSN or MSN to doctorate degree in nursing. To be eligible for this scholarship award, applicant must be the member of AMSN for at least a year. Each award winner will receive $500. Further information can be found at medsurgnurse.org.

American Assembly for Men in Nursing Foundation Scholarship

For men who are pursuing a nursing degree program can consider this special scholarship which dedicated specially for men only. This scholarship program is a partnering between AAMN (American Assembly for Men in Nursing) and Johnson & Johnsons campaign offering $1,000 for each student to fund their nursing education. Detail information on the scholarship application requirement can be found at AAMN website at aamn.org.

Other Financial Aids Resources

Beside the above scholarship providers, you can also look for Financial Aid provided by the U.S. Department of Education at studentaid.ed.gov. It covers the Departments major aid programs, including Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, and PLUS Loans. Another useful resources for student financial aids is FidAid.org, it provides a free, comprehensive, independent, and objective guide to student financial aid.

There are many scholarships out there for you to apply to fund your degree study and many are specially dedicated for nursing students. Hence, if you need money to fund your study in order to accomplish your career goal in the high demanding healthcare industry, varies scholarships and grants are available for you, what you need to do is applying them, but before you submit your application form, check for each eligibility criteria in order to avoid the waste of time in applying the scholarships that you are not qualified for.
